My David Bowie Wedding

The challenge:
To create a fun David Bowie themed wedding in Las Vegas to celebrate the big day.
The solution:
I orchestrated a fun photo shoot at a David Bowie mural inside a brewery in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles. Images of Ziggy Stardust and David Bowie will be used throughout event materials and onsite signage. More soon!
My Roles:
Art Director + The Bride

Modern Love

Everybody does an Elvis wedding in Vegas. So I thought, why not pay homage to the timeless art of David Bowie who stood for so much, including love?

My journey started when I envisioned the perfect engagement photo shoot in front of a David Bowie mural in Mar Vista, Los Angeles for photos to use on my wedding website, save the date and reception visuals. Upon arrival to the mural of his Aladdin Sane album cover, which was painted after Bowie passed away in 2016, it became clear that the mural had been painted over to resemble a photograph of Empire State Building workers eating their lunch.

Devastated that the mural was gone… I rescheduled with my photographer and began researching which Bowie murals still existed in Los Angeles two years after his death. Most were unfortunately gone or tagged.

But luck struck when I found Boomtown Brewery in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles, which had a mural on the wall in the eating area showing Ziggy Stardust and David Bowie side by side. At last! I rescheduled with my photographer, while my fiancée and I helped him with some shot ideas and the rest is history.

Life on Mars delayed in Vegas until 3.27.2021 because of COVID-19.
